Deposit changes as of Nov 1st, 2019
As of November 1, there will be a 10-cent deposit for all ready-to-drink beverage containers containing soft drinks, juice, water, energy and sport drinks up to and including 1 litre in size. Consumers can redeem their full 10-cent deposit refund on these containers when recycling at Return-It depots and retail locations province-wide.
Coinciding with national Waste Reduction Week, the announcement is the latest move by Return-It to encourage British Columbians to recycle more containers, with the goal of keeping them out of B.C.’s landfills and oceans.

Why are we increasing the deposit?
As the industry-owned not-for-profit stewardship agency, we are responsible for managing B.C.’s Return-It beverage container system and implementing deposit increases. We are moving forward with this change now because we believe it will have a positive impact on the overall number of containers recycled.
When are these changes coming to effect?

- Glass 0 - 1 L
- Bi-Metal 0 - 1 L
- Pouches 0 - 1 L
- Polystyrene Cups 0 -454 ml
How will this change impact consumers?
